WOLSELEY 1500 Mk2 FOR SALE (very regrettably), Feb 1962, 89,000 miles, light blue (down as grey on DVLA) MOT to September ‘25
Unfortunately, nay, devastatingly and very regrettably I have to part with my beloved Wolseley 1500 Mk2, affectionately known as ‘Elvis Wolseley’ to everyone who knows him, including many of the Wolseley Register members. We have been through a lot together over the last five years as a partnership, including filming for an Amazon Prime documentary, although a very sinister one called ‘Becoming Ian Brady’. Elvis played the part of Hindley & Bradys’ luring accomplice vehicle in the ‘moors murders’, and I played the unbelievable part of Myra Hindley, unbelievable because I was 60 years old at the time and also a 13 ½ stone balding male, the editing team did do a brilliant job of disguising it. Though now, my current mobility and lack of work situation is dictating that he needs to go to a new owner and a new home, a new family and start a new chapter.
Elvis starts on the very first turn when he’s in daily use. If he hasn’t been used for a few months he will start after 3 or 4 turns, and that’s without a battery charger or the need for jump leads, he’s never needed either. He has a full stainless exhaust up to the manifold, he had a full service a month ago, he’s had two new trunions and steering gaiters fitted last year and he had four new tyres less than 300 miles ago. He is running on an ‘aftermarket’ fuel pump, has been for 3 months now and running absolutely sweet. He scrubs up beautifully, most of his chrome-work I would say is better than average, the chrome panel trims have very light pitting, and on the front wings the pressed chrome embellishers, where the trims join, that is pitted on both n/s and o/s, see pics. The front and rear bumpers aren’t rusty but the chrome has gone a bit ‘flecked’ on the ends. There are a few areas where filler is blistering on the rear door panels around the wheel arch, which I filled, rustolene treated
