The Wolseley Register club stand will be in Hall 5 at the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show 2024 held from 8-10th November at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham B40 1NT. On stand number 5-780, we will be alongside our colleagues: The 6/80 & MO Oxford & Cowley Club. The show is the end of season finale to the classic motoring year which once again spans 6 Halls. The theme for this year’s show is “Hall of Fame”.
The Wolseley Register stand will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the club as well as the 40th Anniversary of the Classic Motor Show. The Register was present at the very first Show in 1984 and at least two of this year’s stand personnel were at the 1984 Show and have been present most years since!
Four Wolseley cars from across the product range will be displayed:
1936 WOLSELEY SUPER SIX SERIES II 25 hp LWB LIMOUSINE – CKR 523
This rare Wolseley 25 limousine was found fully bricked into a garage in Kent and was restored for use in the family wedding hire business. It is featured in the Wolseley Register publication: “Wolseley Super Sixes: A Profile”. At age 15, the current owner helped his uncle to restore the car and now has his own restoration business as well as providing wedding car hire.
1937 WOLSELEY SERIES II 14/56 REDFERN TOURER – EPJ 479
The current owner purchased this car in 1983 and undertook a full restoration when time and space allowed, doing much of the work himself including respraying to the original colour scheme. The upholstery, hood and headlining were all completed professionally by 2019, since when it has attended local events and National Rallies, being awarded the Series II Trophy in 2022.
1957 WOLSELEY 1500 Mk I – LDO 333
This early example of the most popular post-war Wolseley model has been owned by a Register Member for 32 years. The car is presented in striking two-tone Alhambra Green and Island Green. As only the second registered owner from new, he has undertaken a sympathetic restoration, always respecting its originality. To replicate his father’s Wolseley 1500, the owner has fitted a single front spot light, a pair of period wing mirrors, a period AA badge and a GB badge on the boot.
1967 WOLSLEY HORNET Mk III – VVX 200E
This Toga white Hornet with maroon roof and red leather upholstery was acquired by the current owner in June 2023. The car had been a dealer demonstrator from new and the full history is known. A £6000 restoration was carried out 25 years ago which must have been a good job as the car still presents well. It is exactly as it came off the production line with nothing having been altered or added from standard.
