Just aquired Wolseley 12/48 series 3 1947 from Brian in Stoke-on-Trent and looking to insure it fully comprehensively. Just been quoted £97-80P by HERITAGE CLASSIC INS for just myself driving 1000 miles per year. What do you all think , is this good or could I get cheaper elsewhere ?

Hi Rob

Welcome to the Forum and to the Wolseley Register!

From my personal perspective, the figure quoted to you sounds reasonable, and different company premiums are unlikely to vary greatly. However, obviously without knowing your specific details regarding classic car insurance, I doubt that anyone could comment further on any specific quote. I would say that If you aren’t currently experienced at insuring classic cars, then do obtain 2 or 3 quotes first before you select one, and I would also recommend that you make your selection not only on the premium, but also on the differences between the covers, exclusions and excesses. Footman James is another insurer recommended by the Wolseley Register but their are many other specialist insurers who all advertise in the relevant journals.

I hope his helps
Bob

Thanks Bob ,
I finally selected ” Lancaster Classic ” after checking another two specialists . Not cheaper but probably better cover but without breakdown for the moment as mileage will be local and I have a trailer/tow car. Agreed value , 1500 Miles/year , fully comp inc windscreen , legal etc at £106-25 . Quoted full breakdown to home address for another £50 odd but left it out.

That seems to be reasonable to me Rob, although as I said before, the final premium is (partially) dictated by your own personal and driving details, plus of course the exact level of cover and excesses that you choose.

I hope to see you and your car out at some future events?
Regards
Bob

Yesterday , I received confirmation from LANCASTER , that after posting photos of under bonnet , interior front/rear plus roof lining and all exterior body angles , they have agreed a valuation insurance wise of £15,000 for ”Winston” (12/48) Very pleased with that , especially without a face to face with the car.Kiss

Great news Rob. As far as I am aware, £15000 is a really good valuation for a 12/48, so would I think that you have done very well.

Bob
