Hi does anyone know where the grease connection is to the handbrake cables underneath the car, there are two grease nipples underneath the runner board and one goes to the front springs but I can’t find where the second one is on the handbrake cables as mine are broken off, a photo would be very helpful if possible please, thank you

Peter

Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of expertise on the Wolseley Nine amongst our regular forum users. You might therefore do better contacting our technical adviser for these models.

I can’t help with a photo Peter but the Hornet Special I had a few years ago had a similar arrangement and the front nipple on the running board lubricated the handbrake cable, there should be pipe connecting the two. Both connections were threaded the same arrangement as the spring front shackle. Word of warning use oil for the handbrake cable rather than grease and although 140EP oil is recommended for the rest of the chassis lubrication, grease can be used if prefered.
Graham.

There are 11 greasing points at the front of the car.
These are: 4 on the front spring shackle, 1 for each shackle pin.
4 on the swivel axle for the king pins.
2 on the track rod & 1 at bottom of the drag link.
In practise the grease gets hard & blocks grease going up the drag link to lubricate drop arm joint. Put another grease nipple at the top of the draglink.
On the nearside of the car there are 5 greasing points,
1 on the fan.
1 on the front pin for the spring shackle.
1 on the front of the rear spring via the pipe from the grease nipple under the running board.
1 on the on the rear shackle pin, grease then passes down the shackle for bottom pin. Again this gets blocked, put another grease nipple on the bottom pin. (not hardened, so drilling/tapping is relatively easy).
The handbrake is greased via the second grease nipple on the bracket under the running board. (the handbrake has a connection on the actual cable, remove & fit a grease nipple).
On the offside it is the same as the nearside, except for one for the foot brake swivel & one for the clutch pedal. Lastly one for the dynamo rear bearing which has a screw down greaser.
There are also two oiling points for the clutch cross shaft located on the gearbox bell housing.
Hope this helps.
My ‘phone number is in members directory.

Thanks for going to so much trouble explaining the grease points on my nine Graham much appreciated,
You say that the handbrake has a connection on the actual cable and to remove it and fit a grease nipple, I’m not sure what you mean Graham or what the fitting looks like, you see the connections to the handbrake on my nine were all broke off when I purchased it, I would have to see what it looks like to understand, I’m sorry for all the hassle,I have all the other connections sorted and it’s just the handbrake cable grease point that I don’t understand,
Thank you,
Peter.

Peter,
the original greaser pipes were brass, so unlikely to work anyway via the grease point under the running board.
Follow the outer cable from handbrake to where it fastens to the chassis.
The outer cable is in two parts joined where the cable is secured to the chassis. Here is the grease point.
I stopped using the original cables as most were frayed, I use Morris Minor handbrake cables. It fits the lever in the brake drum. I just rerouted the cable slightly to take up any slack.
I may be able to find an old one to take a picture, but still sorting out after house move.
