Anyone know what colour the wheels were painted ex work new on 16/60 ?
Mine are black on a dove grey body. Some cars I have seen have wheels painted to match the body and some like mine are black.
Would like to get my car as near to orignal as possible.

My 15/60 has wheels painted in the same colour as the bodywork and I am sure that was the way the wheels came out of the factory on these earlier cars. Black wheels with a Dove Grey body doesn’t sound right to me. Mind you a lot of 16/60’s where fitted with the large chrome hub caps with a lattice work around the outside so the colour of the wheel would be just about invisible with these fitted. I’m sure someone will come up with a definitive answer soon.

Chris is right, the wheels on the 15/60s should be body colour and if duotone the main body colour, i.e. the middle colour and the same as under the bonnet and in the boot. I have a feeling that some on 16/60 duotone cars the wheels were the same colour as the roof and lower panels some 6/110s were as well but I think it very unlikely that any cars left the factory with black wheels unless of course as with my 15/60 the car is black.

Yes I think your right black doesnt seem correct I have just painted one wheel body colour and it looks much more in keeping. Mine does have the double chrome wheel trim however there is enough wheel showing to see the colour.
Malcolm

Maybe see you at the rally end of week.
