Hello all, I have just bought a lovely 1948 series 3 18/85. I would be grateful if anybody could advise how to open the radiator cap ( mascot). I don,t want to force it, as it,s very tight. Also if anybody has a workshop manual for sale please contact me. Thanks in advance. Joe Fogarty , Dublin Ireland

The cap is a standard screw thread, which should unscrew in the normal anto clockwise direction. You can exert more pressure around the cap itself, but DON’T try using the wings as these can break off.

I have seen one modification where somebody had drilled through the underside of the cap to insert a little grub screw, to prevent the removal and theft of the cap. Might be worth checking for something like that.

The workshop manual is a combined one, covering both the 14/60 and the 18/85.
