A full weekend of activities was be enjoyed by those staying at or near the Rally venue commencing with a Curry Night on Friday when 100 pre-ordered meals were efficiently delivered to the hungry masses in the marquee. Those who took part in the Saturday Road Run were treated to a fine display of a private collection of vehicles at the end of a scenic drive through the local countryside.
Trade stalls, a motoring gymkhana together with Saturday and Sunday raffles provided additional entertainment and live entertainment was staged on Friday and Saturday evenings in the grand marquee. Tying in with the 60’s theme for the weekend, the excellent Beatles tribute duo “The Fab Two” got everyone singing along despite the weather having turned wet by Saturday night.
The main static display was held on Sunday 8 August with record entries from all the Classic Car Clubs present which are part of the MVA. Some clubs were staging their own National Rallies at the event and there was good camaraderie between the various MVA club members.
Ten Wolseley Register members supported the club stand over the weekend with four parties camping on site. Our Wolseleys included 2 1500s, a 15/50, a 16/60, a rare 14/56 tourer, 2 New Fourteens and the oldest entry being a 1927 11/22. Additional Register Members were based on other MVA club stands but came to patronise the Register Regalia stall and one previous Member rejoined the Register at the Rally.
All-in-all an excellent weekend and great way to get back into classic car rallies after the prolonged break.
