The Wolseley Register National Rally 2023 was held over the weekend of 28th – 31st July with the main static rally being held at Brooklands Museum on Sunday 30th July. The Hilton Hotel in Cobham served as the base for most rally participants , being less than 3 miles from Brooklands.
The Wolseley Register AGM was held on Friday evening at the Fairmile Arms, where the five executive committee members were voted in, the annual accounts approved, officer reports read and other matters attended to.
Saturday
Saturday saw some members following one of the suggested routes, including visiting Polesden Lacy (below), now a National Trust property.
Other members went to the Brooklands Museum to have a good look before the rally. Brooklands was the home of pre-war Motor Sport where racing took place from 1907 to 1939. As well as the remains of the famous banked circuit, Brooklands comprises three museums for a single admission fee: a car collection, an aviation museum and the London Bus Museum. Visitors can also look at the Concorde Experience as an optional extra.
Saturday concluded with the main rally evening dinner at the Hilton Hotel, where 64 of us enjoyed a lovely meal.
National Rally
Our National Rally 2023 saw approximately 50 exhibiting Wolseleys and 7 non Wolseleys displayed on the old Finishing Straight below the banked circuit and with the old Club House to the side.
The afternoon ended with the award of presentations and prizes by our Vice President, Alan Simmonds.
Unfortunately the afternoon ended in rain, but this did not stop everyone enjoying the presentations, although it did unfortunately result in some members getting rather wet whilst dismantling the stands…..
A huge vote of thanks to the Events team for organising another great National Rally! See you all next year?
