Practical Classics Car & Restoration Show 2023

The Wolseley Register will be exhibiting at the Practical Classics Car & Restoration Show 2023

The Practical Classic Car & Restoration Show 2023 with discovery+ attracted even more visitors than last year with almost 27,000 being recorded.  The Wolseley Register was one of 160 clubs present and the stand offered 3 very different exhibits displayed by club members.

1939 Series III Wolseley 12/48 – **Winner: Best Restored Car in Show**

This project has been ongoing since 2014 and was previously exhibited at the 2019 Restoration Show as a work in progress. The finished result was admired by all visitors to the Register Stand including the Show’s judging panel.  Everyone appreciated the meticulous work carried out by the owner alongside his work and family commitments.  At the National Car Club Awards ceremony on Saturday afternoon, the car was awarded “Best Restored Car in Show” and the whole family were delighted with this accolade.

1934 Wolseley Sixteen Saloon

1934 Wolseley Sixteen Saloon

Owned for 42 years by one of our longest-serving and very experienced members, this car undertook the 1985 Manneken Pis Rally to Belgium and Holland, covering over 1200 miles.

This exhibit had been in a largely unrestored state but was recommissioned and usable in time for the Show.  The car attracted much interest, inspiring at least one club member to proceed with their own restoration project of a similar model.

1962 WOLSELEY 1500 Mk III

1962 Wolseley 1500 Mk III

This family-owned car had a makeover including respray in 1990 but was off the road from 1992 until sold in 2017.  At that time it was mostly in good order but requiring some welding and attention to obtain an MOT.  The car changed hands again in 2022 when it was described as being in good condition and mainly original but in need of some refurbishment.  The current owner has undertaken further work and  exhibited it as a basic restoration project – showing what can be achieved with minimal outlay.

1500 Mk1 Barn Find exhibited at the Restoration Show

Other Wolseleys were spotted around the Show including a local 1500 Mk I Barn Find.  This example came off the production line only a few months after the launch.  It has only had two owners from new and has only 30,000 miles on the clock.

Many members and visitors were welcomed to the Register stand and all areas of the club were covered with technical advice, membership recruitment, events, publications, club spares and merchandise being available.

Thanks to everyone who visited the Wolseley Register stand and to all the exhibitors and team of helpers.

The Wolseley Register will apply for a stand at the 2024 Practical Classics Classic Car & Restoration Show which will take place from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th March 2024.

Wolseley Register
The home of Lord Nuffield (William Morris) - National Trust, Nuffield Place - reopens for 2026 on Friday 6 March. This will be a day of celebration with the visit of local Morris and Wolseley cars, so you may want to put the date in the diary for a start of the season outing. Lady Nuffield's Wolseley Eight - the only running car belonging to the National Trust - will be in pride of place. ... See MoreSee Less
