1948 Wolseley Eight – ZE 3639
'Zebedee' was purchased in 2018 having been a twice-abandoned project!! He had been fully restored in 1999 but then stood for the next twenty years under a ramp and covered in junk.
Everything that had been done in 1999 had either perished or seized up but the car came with many spares, as well as a huge mouse nest and woodworm in the cab.
Much work was completed in the next year including: re-chroming; engine and water pump rebuilds, refurbishment of the radiator; fuel pump; all braking system; new tyres/powder coating of wheels and a new battery. The car was shown at the 2019 Shepton Mallet Restoration Show and further work has been undertaken since then.
It was the Series III class winner at the 2021 National Rally and travels many miles to local and National events. The owner makes her own 1940’s outfits and always dresses in keeping with her car, also displaying other items from the era.
1933 Wolseley 21/60 ‘County’ - YJ 502
YJ 502 is in excellent condition having been restored and recommissioned over many years including an engine rebuild and fitting of electronic ignition. It still retains all the original period features including the scuttle mounted Wilcot direction indicators and side mounts. Over the years it has been extremely well preserved and maintained to a very high standard.
In 1933, the County model had been updated, still using the six-cylinder 2677cc engine and the two chassis lengths of earlier models, but utilising a more modern body design which was offered in fewer styles, including saloon, landaulet and limousine. This model also saw the introduction of the famous illuminated Wolseley badge, previous badges being enamel.
The current owners use it often and have driven it many miles to National Rallies and Shows. The whole family were awarded “Spirit of the Rally” in 2021 when the 21/60 was also voted “Best in Show”.
