Stoneleigh Restoration Show

The Wolseley Register will be staging a club stand at the popular Stoneleigh Restoration Show which is returning following the enforced break in 2020.

Date: Sunday 7 November 2021
Venue: Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2LG

The Midlands Region will be showing two local examples of the Wolseley 1500 model which have both been restored over recent years by the club’s Deputy Chairman:

1963 Wolseley 1500 Mk III  – ALC 610A
Wolseley 1500 Mk3 at 2021 Stoneleigh Restoration ShowWolseley 1500 Mk1 at 2021 Stoneleigh Restoration ShowThis Wolseley 1500 has been owned by the current Deputy Chairman of the Wolseley Register since 2005.  The car had already been fitted with a 1622 cc engine which allows it to be used to tow a small lightweight caravan to club events and rallies.  When the car needed work doing to the sills in 2012, it was taken off the road and on further investigation it was decided to do a full body restoration.  The car was resprayed from its original single colour to two-tone Birch Grey over Burgundy.

1958 Wolseley 1500 Mk I  – XDV 366
Wolseley 1500 Mk1 at 2021 Stoneleigh Restoration ShowWolseley 1500 Mk1 at 2021 Stoneleigh Restoration ShowHaving been off the road since 1991, this Wolseley 1500 was acquired by the Deputy Chairman at the end of 2018.  The car was then stripped down and work undertaken included a full brake replacement including disc upgrade; significant repair to front wings and front panel; replacement sills; new wiring loom and suspension rebuild.  The full restoration included a full respray in the original colour scheme, new carpets and the fitting of front and rear seat belts.

This 1500 has enabled the Wolseley Register to join the Classic Car Loan Project which is primarily aimed at younger enthusiasts (minimum age 25) or people new to the hobby who have never previously owned a classic vehicle. The project has grown since its inception in 2017 and the 1500 became one of twenty cars put forward for 2020.  A candidate was identified who helped with the restoration before and between periods of lockdown.  This gave him an insight into the workings of a classic car and he has benefitted from the mentorship of the club Deputy Chairman.

The full restoration is documented on the Wolseley Register Loan Car Project – Wolseley Register page of this website.  It was finally completed in time for the official handover to the loanee in July 2021.  The car will be available for the 2022 Loan Car Project Year and interested candidates should apply at How To Apply – Classic Car Loan Project or contact deputychairman@wolseleyregister.co.uk

Both Wolseley Register Members have now started on a new Wolseley 1500 project and at the Restoration Show they will be working on repairs to the front panel of that vehicle.

Club merchandise will be on sale and stand personnel will be available to answer any technical and membership queries at the Stoneleigh Restoration Show.

Tickets available £8 in advance at Buy Event Tickets (restoration-show.co.uk) or £10 on the day. Drivers attending in a classic car will be admitted at £5 on the day – passengers will be charged the normal admission rates.
