The Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show – 3-4 November 2018

Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, Somerset  BA4 6QN

The Wolseley Register stand at this popular winter Restoration Show displayed 3 very different models in the Sedgmoor Hall:

1927 11/22hp E4:
This recently-acquired four-seater tourer had been stored for 46 years with its previous owner.   The car has now been restored to roadworthiness and remains in its original livery of light and dark brown.  Side panels have been fitted and the hood has been refurbished from beige to black.   The car attracted much interest at the Show.

1936 Series II Wolseley 14/56:
This car was off the road for 12 years during which it underwent a full restoration by a diligent Register-member.  It is now presented in blue and grey having originally been in black livery.

1955 Wolseley 4/44:
The owner of this car describes it as a rolling conservation project, presented in Connaught Green with a gold-seal engine, grey interior and in overall good condition.  Work recently undertaken has included replacing brake cylinders, reupholstering the front seats and a whole range of overhaul and titivation items.  Suspension bushes have been replaced – taking advantage of modern materials, by installing nylon ones.  Otherwise, the car is generally original but with the usual repairs (new sills) and some filler has been used.

At the Show, a leak to the filter inside the fuel pump was repaired, thanks to obtaining fibre washers at the show and with the help of a fellow-exhibitor and encouragement from the club stand organiser.

Visitors and club members were welcomed to the stand over both Show days when the Regalia stall was well-patronised and membership enquiries were dealt with.

The Wolseley Register will be applying for a club stand at next year’s show on 2-3 November 2019.
