Welcome from Wolseley Register Chairman Colin Briggs
Welcome to the Wolseley Register, whether you are a visitor to our website, curious about Wolseley motor cars, or are considering applying for Membership. We have worked hard to put a lot of information on our website but if you can’t find what you are looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact our enquiries team enquiries@wolseleyregister.co.uk If you would prefer to speak to someone, you will find phone numbers under the ‘Contact Us’ tab.
The history of Wolseley cars is well known, and is detailed elsewhere on the website. Wolseley cars were always reliable, well finished and equipped, usually with more power and performance than their understated outward appearance suggested. As a result of these admirable qualities, they attracted a loyal customer base of discerning individuals and organisations –hence their use throughout many decades by professional people and the Police Forces.
The Wolseley Register was formed in 1964 and is by far, the longest-established and largest club which caters for all models of Wolseley. Membership is worldwide. We have resources and expertise to help you enjoy your Wolseley, which we believe no rival club can match. We enjoy excellent relationships with other specialist clubs which cater for particular models of Wolseley and many of our Members belong to one of these clubs as well as to the Register.
From the beginning, an important aim of the Register was to compile a record of all known surviving Wolseley cars. This List of Recorded Vehicles (LoRV) is something unique to the Register and is an important resource for research and checking vehicles.
My own involvement with the Register began in 1995 when I joined the NW region after buying a 1966 16/60 which I still have. In 2009 I also took on a 1971 1300. I learned to drive on the family 1300 in 1976 ( pictured); sadly this went to the scrapyard in 1978 at just under 5 years old with terminal corrosion!
In the Wolseley Register I have found much help to keep my cars running but, more than this, I have made many good friends through being an active member . Of course, not everyone who joins the Register wants to become involved socially; we now have an excellent spares operation to help you the members, and there is a long list of knowledgeable people to give ideas ,help and support in the restoration and maintenance of our favourite cars, be it by phone, internet or face to face.
Members receive our magazine, Wolseley World, six times each year. We also have a team of Technical Advisors who know their own model group well and are happy to help any fellow member who has a problem. In addition we have an extensive library of handbooks, manuals and parts lists and a great website with these and much more for you to access.
If you are not already a member, do, please, consider joining us , everyone is welcome
With very best wishes,
Colin Briggs
