Are your Mk1 1500 bonnet and/or boot hinges causing you a headache? Many hinges are now so pitted and tarnished that they spoil the rest of the car, or even worse, they are so worn or even broken, that they render the car unusable. The demand for replacement hinges is increasing, and so the Wolseley Register has been looking at the possibility of remaking them.
Extensive research has been carried out, and we have now identified suitable partners to work on each stage of the manufacture. The hinges will be made in gun metal bronze, which will then be triple chromed and finished ready to be fitted, and will also include new nuts, washers and gaskets. They should hopefully be available for about £200 per pair, a price we believe to be very competitive compared to new commercial prices of similar style hinges.
However, in order to gauge the level of demand, and if sufficient, to then kick start the project, we will offer the hinges at their cost price of £180 per pair to all owners of both Wolseleys and Rileys who register their interest BEFORE the end of December 2025. (Orders taken after the end of December will then revert to the standard selling price). This offer is available to ALL owners, whether members of the Wolseley Register or not!
Hinges will be produced in batches, with production obviously taking a while to get going. They will therefore be sold in the order of interests registered received before the end of the year, and with deposits of £80 per pair to be paid at the commencement of each batch. We hope that, assuming we go ahead, the hinges should start to be available in Spring 2026.
So in order to purchase hinges at cost price, I would ask all owners to contact me as soon as possible before the end of the year, preferably by email at sparesconsultant@thewolseleyregister.com, or by phone on 01524 761409, (leaving a message if no answer). Please state your name and whether you want bonnet or boot (or both) hinges.
Thank you
Bob Langston (Wolseley Register Spares Consultant)
